ANNUAL REPORT 2017 - page 43

The EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN) was created
under the EU programme ICI+ SEBSEAM, which aims to
deepen economic and political bilateral ties with several
countries. By promoting Indonesia as a high potential trade
and investment destination as well as providing support to EU
companies interested in doing business with Indonesia, the
EIBN aspires to be the bridge between EU and Indonesia for
further economic activities and strengthen relations.
The EIBN is set up by a consortium of five bilateral
chambers of commerce. Aside from EKONID, which is the lead
implementing partner, Britcham, INA, and IFCCI make up the
Indonesian side while EUROCHAMBERS and CCI Barcelona
make up the European side. EuroCham Indonesia, while listed
as a partner in EIBN, is in fact exclusively responsible for the
advocacy component of the ICI+ programme in Indonesia.
Implementation of Activities
2017 was marked by an intensive focus on outreach in
Europe and ASEAN. In Europe, EIBN implemented numerous
activities in 18 different Member States, and partnered
with other ICI+ projects to deliver joint EU-ASEAN Business
Networks market information sessions and individual
consultations.
EIBN also organized several sector-specific roundtables
and participated in reference trade events in Europe, including
eight major events in Germany and one information session in
Berlin. Visiting key events was implemented in ASEAN countries
as well, continuing with the aim at reaching out to European
companies that are already present in the region. This resulted
in an extensive direct interaction with target beneficiaries
as reflected in the amount of contacts and consultations
respectively collected and carried out. This method also proved
its effectiveness as services were accomplished out of this
ASEAN outreach approach.
In Indonesia, EIBN continued to strengthen its
collaboration with EU Embassies, with regular individual
meetings, and giving continuity to the capacity-building Info
Sessions programme. The Info Sessions were conducted on
several regulatory and business topics, for EU Member States
and Chambers of Commerce representatives.
These events, exclusive to business support professionals
in EU official representations, trade agencies and chambers
of commerce, were welcomed by the Member States which
responded well to the 3 events put forth by EIBN. These
activities will be continued in the future as they are considered
as key elements in the interaction and knowledge-building
efforts between EIBN and EU Member States in Jakarta.
Enquiries from 28 Member States, 76
of which were directed from Germany
(2nd highest).
670
Events including 15 Participations in
Trade Fairs in Europe

“It is exciting to tell how the EIBN Project has
grown in the last years, and seeing the increased
demand for support from European companies to
enter the Indonesian market. The team has done
a great work in building the reputation of the
Project over a short time”
Laura Aramo
Project Manager of EIBN
