With approximately 230 inquiries by individual German and
Indonesian companies, the interest remained at a similar level
compared to last years. Those inquiries dealt with a variety
of sectors. Most of the inquiries were related to machinery
and technology, followed by food and beverages. Even though
the Indonesian food and beverages market can be difficult
to enter, the sector’s business potential continue to attract
German exporters and importers. In a related point, the third
most attractive sector was on packaging solutions.
Inquiries related to the identification of prospective
business contacts and general market information represented
almost 75% of all inquiries. Other information requested
repeatedly throughout the year were related to the provision
of background information regarding specific companies as
well as to customs issues. The former includes the verification
of company addresses and the provision of registration data.
The later includes information regarding import and export
regulations and tariffs. In addition, EKONID also supports
companies in particular cases regarding the importation of
goods to Indonesia.
In-line with EKONID’s role as the strategic interface
between German and Indonesian companies, much of EKONID’s
support is provided free of charge. However, for more specific
requests, the Business Development Department offers a range
of services related to the initiation of business contacts and the
provision of more comprehensive market information. In 2017,
the Business Development Department provided market-entry
support services to 26 individual clients – mostly German
small- and medium-sized companies. Assistance was provided
through these services: Business Partner Search, Meeting
Arrangement, Company Investigation and Market Research. In
total, almost 40 individual business meetings between German
and Indonesian companies were arranged.
Furthermore, over the course of the year, EKONID has
successfully completed seven comprehensive market studies
focusing on a variety of sectors such as geothermal energy,
civil security technology, hospital construction and food
processing equipment.
