Hospital Construction and Equipment
Within the framework of Germany’s export promotion
program for SMEs, 10 companies joined the business delegation
to Indonesia to introduce Germany as a country with wide-
ranging expertise in the design and construction of hospitals.
The German institutional partners for this conference were the
German Health Partnership (GHP), Network for Architecture
Exchange (NAX), optecnet and the association of consulting
engineers (VBI). For the planning and implementation of the
program, EKONID worked with various multiplicators such as
the Indonesian Hospital Association, Indonesian Association
of Medical and Laboratory Equipment (GAKESLAB) and the
Association of Indonesian Healthcare Consultants (IKKESINDO).
Held from November 5-10, the target regions were Jakarta,
Surabaya in East Java, and Denpasar in Bali. Some 100 and
150 participants attended the presentation events in Jakarta
and Surabaya respectively. As many as 82 individual business
meetings were set up for the German delegates. In Denpasar, a
stakeholder workshop was organized to discuss Bali’s potential
as a destination for health tourism. Furthermore, the program
for the week comprised of roundtable discussions, meetings
with Pertamedika, the Ministry of Health, as well as visits to
hospitals such as the Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar.
Energy Efficiency in Buildings
In 2017, EKONID intended to bring Indonesian stakeholders
from the energy efficiency sector to Germany to learn from
the experiences of German developers and policy makers.
Thus, 16 participants from 9 Indonesian companies and
institutions travelled to Berlin within the period of May 14 -
18. The program was part of the initiative “Energy Solutions
made in Germany” of the German Federal Ministry for
Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and was implemented in
cooperation with the Renewables Academy AG (RENAC).
In Germany, the participants were introduced to Germany’s
experiences in regards to energy efficiency buildings in
different seminars. Furthermore, site visits to energy efficient
buildings were organized, including the Federal Ministry of
the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear
Safety (BMUB), the IKEA furniture center in Berlin-Lichtenberg
as well as the Vivantes Hospital.
GNTB ASEAN Roadshow
The rapidly growing Indonesian middle class has helped
increase the arrivals of tourists from the archipelago into
Europe. Thus, since 2015, EKONID has been cooperating with
the German National Tourism Board (GNTB) to further promote
Germany as a tourist destination.

In October 2017, the first business delegation comprising
of representatives from the German tourism sector embarked
on a roadshow to selected ASEAN countries, including
Indonesia. In Jakarta, EKONID organized a networking
dinner with board members of the Association of Indonesian
Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) and selected members. To
complement this delegation, EKONID, in cooperation with the
German Embassy Jakarta, organized a Schengen visa seminar
with representatives from major Indonesian outbound travel
agencies. Key to the facilitation of more Indonesian tourist
coming to Germany is the visa policy. The seminar allowed for
an update on the latest procedures and an exchange regarding
coming issues the travel agencies and various other issues the
German Embassy in Jakarta are facing.
