EKONID ANNUAL REPORT 2018|
31
MARKET ENTRY
W
ith approximately 230 inquiries by individual
German and Indonesian companies, interest
remained at a similar level to previous years.
Most of the inquiries were related to the machinery and
technology sector, followed by the food and beverages
sector, which includes packaging solutions. Even though
competition within the Indonesian food and beverage
market has grown even more intense, its business
potential continues to attract German exporters and
importers.
Inquiries related to the identification of prospective
business contacts and general market information
represented almost three quarters of all inquiries.
Other information requested repeatedly throughout
the year were related to the provision of background
information regarding specific companies as well as to
issues surrounding customs. The former includes the
verification of company addresses and the provision
of registration data. The latter includes information
relating to import and export regulations and tariffs, for
which the requests were almost double that of previous
years. In addition, EKONID also supports companies who

experienced difficulties with the importation of goods
into Indonesia.
In-line with EKONID’s role as a strategic interface
between German and Indonesian companies, much of
EKONID’s support is provided free of charge. However,
for more specific requests, the Business Development
Department offers a range of services which relate to
the initiation of business contacts and the provision of
more comprehensive market information. In 2018, the
Business Development Department provided market-
entry support services to 15 individual clients, mostly
German small- andmedium-sized companies. Assistance
is provided through the following services: Business
Partner Search, Meeting Arrangement, Company
Investigation and Market Research. In total, around 35
individual business meetings between German and
Indonesian companies were arranged.
Furthermore, over the course of the year, EKONID
successfully completed five comprehensive market
studies focusing on a variety sectors, namely maritime,
PV hybrid and bioenergy, cosmetics, energy efficiency
and finished food products.
