T
he EU-Indonesia Business Network (EIBN) was
created under the EU programme ICI+ SEBSEAM,
which aims to deepen economic and political bilateral
ties with several countries. By promoting Indonesia as a
high potential trade and investment destination as well
as providing support to EU companies interested in doing
business with Indonesia, the EIBN aspires to be the bridge
between EU and Indonesia in terms of further economic
activities and strengthened relations.
The EIBN was set up in 2013 by a consortium of
five bilateral chambers of commerce in Indonesia and
Europe. Besides EKONID, the lead implementing partner,
Brticham, INA, and IFCCI form part from the Indonesian
side; and EUROCHAMBRES and CCI Barcelona are on the
European side. EuroCham Indonesia, while listed as a
partner in EIBN, is in fact exclusively responsible for the
advocacy component of the ICI+ programme in Indonesia.
In 2018, this initial partnership structure saw some
positive changes, with the addition of the Danish
Indonesian Business Chamber (Dancham), and the Italian
Business Association in Indonesia (IBAI), which formally
joined the project in August 2018 replacing INA, which
ceased to exist as a partner in 2017. The EIBN project was
also granted a one year extension, boosting the potential
future sustainability of the project.
In the meantime, over in Europe, EIBN implemented
numerous activities in 16 different Member States, and
partnered with other ICI+ projects in order to deliver joint
EU-ASEANBusinessNetworksmarketinformationsessions
and individual consultations. EIBN also organized several
sector-specific roundtables and participated in reference
trade events in Europe. In Indonesia, EIBN continued to
strengthen its collaboration with EU Embassies, through
regular individual meetings, and by offering continuity to
the capacity-building Info Sessions programme. EIBN has
also moved forward with key local partners, continuing to
establish a closer cooperation with BKPM through the EU
Desk at BKPM.
EIBN also enjoyed a successful implementation of
business services in2018, delivering16 Individual Business
Services, including bilateral country business delegations,
market studies and several individual business partner
searches. In addition, EIBN also organized two European
Food Pavilions at two different trade fairs and two Pan-
European Trade Missions in the sectors of Health and
Food, overall supporting more than 115 companies
through these activities.
EIBN successfully hosted the 8th EU-Indonesia
Business Dialogue (EIBD), which continued to provide an
ideal platform for the formulation of possible solutions
