February 2018 - Shipbuilding and Maritime
Technology Solutions
E
arly in 2018, EKONID welcomed a business
delegation from Germany in the field of
shipbuilding and maritime technology solutions.
The program was a continuation of the maritime
delegation that started back in 2015. Accompanied by
representatives from the German Ministry of Economic
Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the German Shipbuilding
andOcean Industries Association (VSM), nine companies
signed up for the program. From February 25 to March
2, 2018, the delegation visited shipbuilding centers in
the city of Surabaya, East Java, in Indonesia’s capital
city of Jakarta, and finally on the island of Batam. The
VSM has been the primary partner for the identification
of companies in Germany.
In Surabaya, group visits, technical seminars
and individual business meetings were set up. Three
companies, PT Adiluhung Saranasegara Indonesia, PT
Pelindo, and PT Teknik Tadakara were visited to provide
the German company representatives with insights into
domestic maritime activities. About 70 participants
attended the seminars. During the organization of the
seminar, EKONID cooperated closely with the Indonesia
Shipbuilding and Offshore Association (IPERINDO). The
chairman of IPERINDO gave a presentation regarding
the current situation within the shipbuilding industry
and its business potential. While in Jakarta, the program
focused on meeting potential business partners for
the German delegation. Furthermore, as part of the
program, company visits to PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry,
PT Pertamina Trans Kontinental, PT PELNI and PT
Samudera Indonesia were also organized. In both
cities, 55 individual business meetings with potential
Indonesian business partners were set up. The last
day of the delegation’s program was spent in Batam
where the delegation visited a number of shipbuilding
companies, namely PT Citra Shipyard, Batam Enterprise
Agency (BP Batam), PT Palindo Marine, as well as the
Batam Shipyard and Offshore Association (BSOA).

March 2018 – Decentralized Energy Supply Solutions
Steady economic growth as well as rapid urbanization
has led to a sharp increase in demand for energy in
Indonesia. The country has planned on building 35GW
worth of new electricity generating capacity by 2019.
However, only less than 10% of this program has entered
commercial operations. It was with this inmind that, from
March 20 to 22, EKONID collaborated with Renewable
Academics (RENAC) to host a German business mission
to Indonesia for the energy sector. As many as seven
German companies signed up for this program. The three-
day program was part of the initiative, “Energy Solutions
Made in Germany” organized by the Federal Ministry of
Economics and Energy (BMWi).
In Jakarta, presentation events and business meetings
were organized to provide opportunities for delegation
members to get direct insights from local stakeholders.
The German Embassy and the Director General for New
and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the
Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
were among key speakers at the seminar and over 120
participants were present. A further 44 individual in-house
meetings were successfully set up.
July 2018 – Waste Management Project in Tasikmalaya
In 2018, EKONID, supported by the German Federal
Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation and
Nuclear Safety (BMU), successfully implemented its waste
management project. EKONID cooperated with lecturers
and students from Siliwangi University to conduct
a waste composition analysis of the Ciangir Landfill
in Tasikmalaya, West Java. Following this phase, an
intensive three-day training session on waste separation
at the household level was also organized from July 23-
25. About 40 local stakeholders such as waste bank units
and waste treatment facility workers participated in the
training.
The results of data analysis were presented by EKONID
and Siliwangi University to the city government of
Tasikmalaya as well as other local key stakeholders in the
