The highlights of the event were two panel discussions. In the first, three Indonesian nationals who, have spent a
significant amount of time in Germany and are now living in Indonesia again, shared their personal experiences
of living and working in Germany and the impact on their future careers. They evaluated on several aspects, such
as: the first impression, activities of daily life such as commuting from one place to another and other challenges
they faced in private and work life and finally their return to Indonesia. They also gave some helpful advice on how
to best prepare for the move to Germany.
The second panel discussion shifted the focus more towards the topic “Working in Germany”, discussing the
”Importance of an internationally experienced and mobilized workforce in globalizing markets”. The participants,
originating from different sectors, elaborated on their individual background and connection to Germany and
shared their extensive knowledge and experience with the appreciating and well prepared audience. The topics
discussed included, among others, obstacles and benefits for Indonesian employees while working in a German
business environment. Towards the end of the discussion the participants all agreed on the triple win effect
according to which all three parties will benefit: Indonesia, Germany and the employee in question.
