In parallel to the sustainable production activities, the
agenda for sustained change saw the implementation
of numerous activities dedicated to the consumption of
eco-batik from SMEs assisted in the previous years. The
CBI eco-batik collection was displayed during 8 large
local exhibitions in Jakarta and Solo. CBI embarked as
well on overseas’ promotion trips, as part of the project’s
goal to promote trade of environmentally-friendly batik
products in the international market. During two
outstanding – but challenging! – events in Singapore and
Berlin, the project team brought Indonesia’s cultural
heritage to the world’s attention.
The work of the team received the invaluable support of
thePresidentofRepublicIndonesia,H.E.SusiloBambang

Boediono and Indonesian Minister of Industry H.E.
Mohamad S. Hidayat, conveyed his appreciation for
CBI’s efforts in supporting Indonesian economic growth
by adding value to batik industry through sustainable
practices and environment-friendly strategy.
Under the motto “Love your Batik, Love your
Environment”, CBI has started to engage actively
in matchmaking effort in order to secure long term
sustainable orders for the SMEs. To this end, the team
has worked with textile designers to come up with new
more contemporary batik motifs, organized product and
design development workshops as well as networked
with potential inviduals and retail buyers. A recent
success in this effort was the establishment of CBI
showcasing, along with ten great names in the world of
Indonesian Arts, Crafts and Antiques, in a fabulous 324
m2 gallery in Beachwalk, in Kuta, Bali.
