GIZ Cooperation: Regional TVET Conference
The Regional TVET Conference, titling “Ensuring TVET
Quality and Preparing for the AEC 2015” was jointly
organized and hosted by the German Federal Ministry for
Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the
Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC),
supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Industry (MoI)
and the Ministry of National Development Planning
(BAPPENAS). The conference provided a platform for
roughly 340 participants from 18 countries to discuss
about different TVET systems within the ASEAN region
and Germany, and also helped to strengthen regional
networks for the knowledge sharing in the field of
vocational training and education.
In the scope of the second Regional TVET Conference,
EKONID organized two thematic work groups, focusing
on the perspectives of the business community with
regard to TVET, as well as one exhibition booth to
present EKONIDs services, especially in the field of
training and education, in the conference foyer.
The first session with the title Achieving commitment-
models of productive partnership between the public
and private sector was focusing especially on current
activities and trends in Indonesia and the perspectives
of the business community with regard to TVET.
Speakers of different backgrounds, from training
institutes and companies, exemplified vocational
training measures organized in companies as well as
cooperation opportunities between TVET institutes and
the private sector.
The second panel discussion with the title Regional
Integration- Skill demands and HR development in
regional business shifted the focus to the regional
ASEAN context. All ASEAN member states have
one joint challenge to overcome: the lack of skilled
labor. Improving education, especially vocational
training was regarded as one key challenge within
the regional ASEAN integration and the panelists
discussed the need of comparable education standards
for the whole region to guarantee transparency on an
ASEAN level.
