Annual Report 2013
“NRW GOES TO ASEAN” - North Rhine-Westphalia delegation to Indonesia and Myanmar
During the second half
of the year, EKONID welcomed and supported a business delegation of six companies from the German state of
North Rhine-Westphalia, led by Dr. Günther Horzetzky, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy
and Industry of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Lehner, President of the Düsseldorf
Chamber of Commerce and Industry conducting meetings with representatives from the Investment Coordinating
Board of Indonesia (BKPM), expert discussions as well as company visits to PT Schenker Petrolog Utama in Jakarta
and PT Meco in Surabaya have broadened the insight into specific sectors and showed up business opportunities
in Indonesia.
Another highlight in 2013 was the symposium –
”German Technology for Confectionery Production and
Packaging”
hosted by the German Engineering Federation VDMA in cooperation with EKONID. Fifteen established
German companies presented their innovative product portfolio for processing and packaging of confectionery
and pointed out the potential of improvement in terms of efficiency, flexibility and energy savings, by using high-
tech machinery. They received an overwhelming response from the Indonesian side, professionals representing all
the major companies from the focus industry.
“Health – Made in Germany”
aims to bring the strengths of the German health care industry to countries around
the globe. The export initiative, launched by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) in 2011,
provides information, links partners, and paves the way for applying German know-how on an international
scale. EKONID supported a technical event in November 2013, where selected medical equipment companies
from Germany were given the opportunity to present their organization, product portfolio and respective
training-services for medical staff to Indonesian hospital directors, doctors, relevant associations and ministry
representatives.
The year 2013 was another year of increased interest from German companies in the Indonesian market with
its opportunities for trade and investment. EKONID continues to promote bilateral economic relations, offering
support to organizations in pursuing their business interests well into 2014 with another diverse business
delegation schedule in place.
