For over a century, the worldwide network of AHK offices has been representing reliable and trustworthy
partners for corporate entry into foreign markets. The network continues to grow. In 2014 new offices were
opened, e.g. in Mozambique, the Philippines and Myanmar.
In Indonesia the German Indonesian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (EKONID) is acting as a
strategic interface between the German and Indonesian economies. As such we
represent the bilateral business interests of Indonesian and German member
companies and institutions. Our core business is to support our members from both
countries in pursuing new trade and investment opportunities.
Furthermore, as a member of the Network of German Chambers Abroad in ASEAN (AHK
ASEAN) our focus does not stop at Indonesia’s borders. We are proud to act as an important partner
to strengthen the regional cooperation within ASEAN as well as to support trade and investments in the
region. Being part of this platform for enterprises, especially SMEs, and political decision makers from
the ASEAN region, we are widening and promoting the exchange of knowledge for a trade and investment
friendly environment.
For our members, EKONID’s head-office in Jakarta serves as a meeting point and information centre for those
who seek advice. More than 50 dedicated employees are supporting companies planning to do business in
Indonesia or that are already represented here. EKONID offers its members all services, which are necessary
to support them effectively for market entry or expansion here in Indonesia. Our services, which are labeled
under the worldwide AHK-brand DEinternational, ensure the uniformity of services, comparable offers and
excellent advice.
Our services include business partner search, market research, legal information and corporate and tax
services, vocational training solutions and the organization of trade fair participations. With our in-house
design agency we can support companies in developing corporate design solutions as part of their corporate
communication strategy.
Also represented in the EKONID building is Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), the foreign trade and
inward investment agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. GTAI promotes Germany as a business and
technology location for investment and supports companies based in Germany with market information.
In order to reach out to its members in the east of Java, since 2011 EKONID has been cooperating with
the Indonesian foundation Yayasan Mitra Indonesia-Jerman based in Surabaya, Indonesia’s second largest
city located in the east of Java. The so called “Wisma Jerman” (German House) is a worldwide unique
cooperation between the Goethe Institute, a German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a local
foundation. In Surabaya Wisma Jerman promotes the German language in Indonesia by offering courses
to interested students while at the same time it functions as the first contact point for German companies
based in Surabaya. Through this cooperation German companies will benefit from the interdisciplinary work
of the Wisma Jerman. Regular business related events provide networking possibilities with German and
Indonesian member companies and other stakeholders in the region.
