Annual Report 2013
In October, EKONID, together with the German Embassy and other institutional and
corporate (premium) partners (ALLIANZ, BMW) organized the first JERIN Festival;
a three day long culture and culinary outdoor festival that attracted around 10,000
visitors.
Program related events were the Biomass Conference in May and the Photovoltaic
conference in September, each with more than 200 Indonesian companies, jointly
organized by EKONID and the GIZ.
Two EU-funded projects that came to an end in 2013 should be highlighted: the
EU-Active project, together with the other European Chambers, that was intended
to support the start the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)
between Indonesia and the European Union, with its event highlight having been
the EU-Indonesian Business Dialog (EIBD) in October; and the Clean Batik Initiative
(CBI), a four-year program in which EKONID successfully trained more than 500
Indonesian batik producing companies in energy efficiency and marketing of their
products.
In terms of strategic cooperation’s and developments, EKONID continued in 2013 to
extend its activities in the field of training and education and started to implement
the EU-Indonesian Business Network (EIBN), a platform funded by the European
Commission, jointly developed and implemented with our European chamber
partners, to improve market access and advocacy as well as business support and
outreach for all European partners. Both programs are designed for a long-term
strategic engagement of EKONID in these fields of activities.
All in all the year 2013 was one of the busiest years in our history: EKONID conducted
or was actively involved in two hundred and twenty five (225) events throughout
the year. It may well have been that on every working day of the year EKONID
staff were either organizing a luncheon, a Get Together, a conference, a seminar, a
training or a festival.
Our sincere appreciation and gratitude is dedicated to all our members, partners
and clients, who have made EKONID’s work and success in 2013 possible through
their continued and generous assistance and endorsements. This support, combined
with the dedication of our highly motivated team, gives us the confidence to master
all the challenges and opportunities ahead of us in the next year. Thank you very
much !
